Thoughts on Internal Screening

Poster of Internal Screening

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the school internal screening of last year's student work, and it was an eye-opening experience. As an aspiring filmmaker, it was inspiring to see the variety of narratives and concepts that were presented on screen. While some of the films were not of the best quality, they provided an excellent learning experience for all of us who attended.

The screening showcased the work of the students from the previous academic year. Some of the films were exceptionally well-made, and the narratives were engaging and thought-provoking. These films were a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students who created them. They had put in a lot of effort into every aspect of filmmaking, from the scriptwriting to the post-production. It was evident that they had a clear understanding of the medium and how to use it to tell a compelling story.

On the other hand, some of the films were not up to par in terms of quality. However, these films still had some redeeming qualities that made them worth watching. For example, some had interesting concepts that could have been executed better, while others had good cinematography but lacked a cohesive narrative. These films were a reminder that filmmaking is a challenging art form that requires a lot of skill and practice to master.

Overall, attending the school internal screening was a valuable learning experience for me. It taught me that making a good film is not just about having good equipment or a big budget. It is about having a strong concept, a well-written script, good acting, and a clear understanding of the medium. Additionally, it showed me that it is okay to make mistakes and learn from them. After all, mistakes are a natural part of the learning process. One of the highlights of the screening was the Q&A session that followed each film. This session was an opportunity for the directors and creators to communicate their concept and vision to the audience. It was also a chance for the audience to provide feedback and ask questions. This session was particularly valuable as it gave us insight into the creative process behind each film. It allowed us to understand the choices that were made and why certain decisions were taken.

Furthermore, the Q&A session was an opportunity for us to learn from the mistakes made by the filmmakers. For example, some of the directors talked about the challenges they faced during the production process, such as technical difficulties or scheduling conflicts. Others talked about how they had to make difficult decisions during post-production, such as cutting out scenes that they had initially thought were essential to the story. These insights were invaluable, as they gave us a glimpse into the challenges that filmmakers face and how they overcome them. Attending the school internal screening has made me excited to showcase my own work next year. I look forward to presenting my films to my classmates and receiving feedback from them. I am also eager to see the work of my peers and learn from their successes and mistakes. It will be an opportunity for me to apply what I have learned and to continue growing as a filmmaker.

In conclusion, attending the school internal screening was a valuable learning experience for me. It gave me a glimpse into the creative process behind filmmaking and allowed me to understand the challenges that filmmakers face. The Q&A session was particularly valuable as it gave us insight into the creative process behind each film. I am excited to showcase my own work next year and to continue learning from my peers. Ultimately, attending the school internal screening has made me even more passionate about filmmaking, and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me.
